I was visiting the Tempe area for a conference and choose to arrive a few days early so that I could take in the local sights. I wasn't quite sure of where to go, so I just sort of followed Google maps. I stumbled upon the Tempe Tourism office which was rather convenient. I walked in and everyone was very courteous and professional. They suggested many vegan restaurants in the area, local museums, and even gave me a few souvenirs. Yet the biggest help was helping me find a tour agency that would do a one day trip to the grand canyon and back. I really wanted to see the canyon, and thanks to their help, I did.
Tempe changed my life in 1992 and again in 2021... we LOVE TEMPE... TOWN LOVE
So. Mill Ave has these hidden gems that you have to be a local to know about apparently. I known about them for years so I never thought about promoting them. In the back of the shops on Mill Ave they have alleys and connected shops that allow you to explore and also give a sort of Diagon Alley from Harry Potter kind of vibe. They have bars, hippy shops, restaurants and much, much more! If you want to feel like you transported back in time please visit Mill Ave and explore the stores from the front and most importantly the back of them. 😉
There kinda nasty, if you hit them up on Facebook, don't always expect any help or rational assistance. I'm not a fan but I think there office looks cool. Not even sure what they really do or why they think they're better than other people or uninterested in helping even residents much less tourists.
If you want to know what’s happening in Tempe, this is the place to go. Everyone I worked with here was super friendly. Even though I’m a local, they’re my go-to resource for recommendations for things to do or new places to try.
