I’ve eaten here before, but I’ve only ever eaten the chorizo burro. It is really good. After seeing a viral video online about the bean and cheese burro, I had to come try it out. I got that and a shredded beef taco. The shredded beef taco is the smallest taco I’ve ever seen at a restaurant. For reference, I put it next to a plastic fork. In this economy, I know a lot of restaurants are downsizing the portions and keeping prices the same, but this is all just smoke and mirrors. This is the smallest taco you’ll ever see. I give the taco 6.5 out of 10 for taste. I would never order it again. The bean and cheese burro was really, really good! The tortilla was on point. The beans were very flavorful. Was it the best bean burro I’ve ever eaten? No, but few restaurants in Arizona can beat it. I drove 20 minutes one way to try this. It’s not worth a 40-minute round-trip, but if I’m ever in the neighborhood, I will stop in. Their house hot sauce tastes a lot like El Pato. It was really good. The place was clean inside, and the staff were friendly.
Love this place! Been going here since the late 90's when I went to Chandler High. I stopped in today for lunch & was reminded of how good it is. My favorite is the mini chimis plater that comes with a mini taco, rice & beans. And they throw a hand full of chips on the beans. Love that! Their salsa is so good too. Thanks Elmer's for the wonderful food & awesome memories of growing up in Chandler.
I've lived in Arizona for 48 of my 52 years of life and never been to Elmer's Tacos!! Well....Thank God I heard about them on Tikety Tok!!! I am a connoisseur of of Red Chili, and love me some when it is made just right, not too hot, tasty with the perfect amount of seasonings and cooked so tender, with chunks of beef or pork. We live in the NW part of the valley, so on a Saturday, I asked my oldest son to take me for an hour drive to Elmer's, picked my Mama on the way, cuz she said Let's Go!!!! Haha!! The place was small, clean and inviting. The employee's were helpful & imformative of their menu. I already knew what I was going to get.... A red chili, bean & cheese burrrito, and a bean & cheese cone!! Remember, I said I am a connoisseur of RED CHILI....THIS IS THE BEST RED CHILI I'VE EVER TASTED IN MY 52 YEARS OF LIFE!!!! The tenderness, the tastiness, just enough heat, mixed with the homemade beans and the perfect amount of cheese.....DROOL!!!!! My mouth is literally watering typing this!!! I just wish you were closer, during the week is a tough one because of traffic, I will have to make it out there another Saturday in the near future, because I need a fix!! LOL!! The Bean & Cheese Cone was good, but could of been better!! The beans & cheese were cold, but the cone was hot. I didn't want to complain so I just took a couple bites and went back to my red chili burrito. My husband & Mama both got enchiladas and said they were very good and tasty. And my son said he always enjoys his meals when he goes there. Lucky him he drives all over the valley for work!!!
You enter this beloved local spot with curiousity. Is it the food? The location? The people? It's a bit of each. The atmosphere welcomes you with pride for local teams. The staff seem excited about what they do and offer friendly service. And the food has plenty of flavor, the beans something unique you haven't tasted before. And if you weren't such a pig, enjoying your burrito too much, you would've had leftovers for later - the proportions are generous. As you leave with good feelings, knowing you'll come back, you have only one warning - beware the grease, because it's plentiful. It adds flavor but requires Tums.
I can’t say enough good things about Elmer’s tacos! If I could give them a 10 star I would! They are always so friendly and the food is always outstanding! Never disappointed when I order food from there.
